5 Feng Shui Concepts to Help Sell a Home

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese energy practice over 6,000 years old based on the knowledge that there is both good energy (Sheng Qi) and negative energy (Sha Qi). You might think we do not have to worry about someone that follows an ancient Chinese belief when selling your home in South Carolina, but I have seen it turn off one buyer from even coming into our office. We took his advice, and applied it with a bunch of skepticism. But it seemed to help! So to put the best face on a home for sale and appeal to potential house buyers who follow feng shui principles, keep these tips in mind.

  1. Pay special attention to the front door, which is considered the “mouth of chi” (chi is the “life force” of all things) and one of the most powerful aspects of the entire property. Abundance, blessings, opportunities, and good fortune enter through the front door. As you step inside, you are transitioning from the outside world to the inside world. It’s also the first impression buyers have of how well the sellers have taken care of the rest of the property. Make sure the area around the front door is swept clean, free of cobwebs and clutter. Make sure all lighting is straight and properly hung. Better yet, light the path leading up to the front door to create an inviting atmosphere. Take 3 lucky Chinese coins and tape them to the back of the welcome mat. Every time someone walks in they symbolically are bringing money into your property and into your life.

2. Chi energy can be flushed away wherever there are drains in the home. To keep the good forces of a home in, always keep the toilet seats down and close the doors to bathrooms. They say the reason to keep your toilet seats down when not in use is you will have money will disappear. I just don't like the pets drinking out of it but if it means more money, who will complain?

3. The master bed should be in a place of honor, power, and protection, which is farthest from and facing toward the entryway of the room. It’s even better if you can place the bed diagonally in the farthest corner. Paint the room in colors that promote serenity, relaxation, and romance, such as soft tones of green, blue, and lavender.

4. The dining room symbolizes the energy and power of family togetherness. Make sure the table is clear and uncluttered during showings. Use an attractive tablecloth to enhance the look of the table while also softening sharp corners.

5. The windows are considered to be the eyes of the home. Getting the windows professionally cleaned will make the home sparkle and ensure that the view will be optimally displayed.

6. The kitchen is also important regarding wealth. This comes from the belief that the better you eat the healthier you are. A healthier person is a more productive person and brings in better business. The burners on your stove represent wealth. Keep them clean and alternate your use of the burners when you are cooking. Sometimes Duneier prescribes a mirror over the stove to double the burners. The refrigerator should be filled with healthy food as a full refrigerator brings in abundance.

7. Plants bring life force into our living and working environments. Not only do they bring beauty, but plants clean our air and can absorb electromagnetic fields which have a negative impact on our health. Bamboo and Jade plants are indoor plants that act as wealth enhancers.
