Highest Point in SC
Sassafras Mountain is the highest point in the state of South Carolina, USA, with a summit elevation of 3560 feet (1085 m) above mean sea level. It is located in northern Pickens County, South Carolina. Northwestern South Carolina is home to small mountain ranges, and from the top of Sassafras Mountain you can view 6,000' + mountains in the distance.
The summit, owned by Duke Energy, is open to the public without restriction (other than you have to walk 100 yards up a paved trail). At the top, you can walk off to the side a little bit and see a decent view of the Blue Ridge Mountains through the trees. The summit is well marked, and there is a summit register.
