How to Find the Best Home
1) Hire a Realtor
Purchasing a home could be your largest purchase ever! Your goal is to find a professional, experienced agent that has great market knowledge. This will save you plenty of time and aggravation. I might even know one that I would recommend!
2) Get Financing Arranges Before You Start Looking
Save yourself time and aggravation by arranging your financing before you start looking! Imagine how you will feel after you find your dream home and realize later that you cannot afford it. Don’t assume that you can get a mortgage. The lending industry has changed a lot in the past year. Before you look at property know what you can afford.
3) Know What You Want, Need & Must Have
Make a list of your needs and wants. Discuss with me what you need to have and want to have. You most likely will have to make compromises. Everyone does when purchasing a home. Since I am an experienced Realtor who knows the market, I will be able to tell you if your needs and wants match your budget.
4) Narrow Your Search to a Just One Area
Make a list of areas that you like or schools you want your children to attend. There is no point in looking at homes that do not match you! Wasting your time means missing the great deals! Spend a day driving around the area if you are not familiar with it.
5) Drive By to Save Yourself Time
Once you have arranged financing, know your needs, wants & must haves, narrowed down your areas then get a list of homes from me and drive by them. You will eliminate several homes by just driving by them. This will save you hours.
6) There is No Perfect Home
Everyone makes compromises. There is no such thing as a perfect home. Even when you build a home, the lot or area may not be perfect.
7) Keep Informed About Local Market Conditions
If you do all of this and can’t find a great home then you either have to lower your standards, raise your budget or sit tight and wait for more listings to come on the market. I can set you up on an automated email system so that when a home comes on the market that matches your criteria you will be notified of it immediately. This is a great way to be the first one in the door!
