It will take years for a little tree like this to look like much. But sometimes, time is on your side…
My newest addition to the ongoing landscaping projects at my house is this little tree. My wife commented on how it will be years before it is big enough to suit her. But I said that is exactly the reason I am so excited about this tree. We bought this house to live in and share years full of fond memories. So now we can watch the leaves change color as the seasons change. And watch it grow from the little sapling it is today to the large shade tree it shall be someday.
Buying a home is an investment in your future. It is something you need to look at with the long term in mind. Just like planting a tree, it may not be impressive or seem like much today, but with time and effort, it can turn out to be something you can be very proud of. You have to crawl before you can walk and the same is true when looking to buy a home.
Buying a house that needs a little paint, or has a yard that could use a green thumb is sometimes in your best interests. You can take pride and joy in making little changes that will add to not just the value but the pleasure you enjoy in owning your home.
Can you put a price on the pleasure from years of cookouts on the rear deck you build? Or the pleasure of sitting under the shade from a tree you planted? Or looking at the vibrant colors of that same tree when the leaves change color in the fall? Or the smells of the flowers and other plants you decided to position around your home, in just that certain spot that you decided on.
The feeling of safety, security and relief you get every time you pull into your driveway is something words cannot express. The feeling of pride after completing a remodeling project is something you must experience to fully enjoy.
Home ownership is a long term investment in yourself not just financially but emotionally and spiritually also. If I did not believe in the joys of owning my own home I would not work to help others to also experience the same pride and joy I feel.
