You get plenty of strange calls in real estate…
So I am busy with my normal morning internet activities and the cell phone rings…
It is a homeowner/investor in another state who happened to see one of my many internet ads for a property close to the one he has for sale.
This person house is for sale but he has listed this home with another agent…
So why are you calling me?
Well he is just trying to “help” his agent by calling other agents to let them know about the property. I try to explain the market is slow right now in Upstate South Carolina. I go on to especially for homes priced such as yours are not selling quickly so don’t blame your agent.
I tell this person that I am sure their real estate agent is doing everything possible to help you.
Oh he knows they are doing a great job but he wants to call other agents in the area and tell them about his home. That has been on the market for over 500 Days with…wait for it… no price decrease but instead a $20K increase!
500 days on market and you go up on the price? What the freak is wrong with some people?
I tell this person that I am sorry your home is not selling as quickly as the first home you sold in the same community. Just because the first home sold quickly didn’t mean to raise the price of this one $20K!
How is that price increase working out for you?
Drop the price and quit shooting yourself in the foot by “helping” your agent.
How much money have you lost in payments in that 500 plus days?
Call your agent, not other agents.
Yeah, the best strategy is to call your competition and tell them how badly you are hurting.
Call your agent instead of putting other agents in the uncomfortable situation of possible ethics violations by talking to another agent’s client.
Quit “helping” your agent!
