Twitter can be a great way to network for Realtors. And it can also be a great way to show the world you are a moron!
First let me start off by saying I am not a Twitter expert…
Or some social media guru with a sure fire Twitter Real Estate System to sell you.
I am however someone that does know a little bit about using Twitter…
And social media…

That being said, let me give you some background on my Twitter experience. I have been named to the
And I currently have over 18,000 followers on Twitter.
None of which are bots that I bought to try to make me look more special or important.
So I do know something about using Twitter.
Not saying I am an expert…
I put my pants on one leg at a time.
I just have some good advice for any REALTOR or real estate agent using Twitter…
I Do NOT Care About Your Price Reduction or New Listing
Earlier today, an agent in an area FAR from Anderson South Carolina decided to mention me in a tweet about how I should check out their listing since it just had a price reduction.
If every real estate agent started tweeting to each other about their new listings or price reductions, the usefulness of Twitter would evaporate in under a minute.
I do tweet my listings from time to time. But I do NOT mention other twitter users in that tweet.
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!
Mentioning someone to draw attention to something self promotional is call mention spam.

Now I know what some agents will say…
I am just trying to help sell my client’s property
Now that I have used the Twitter Mute Button and will never ever see another of this person’s tweets, how effective was this tactic?

The Take Away:
Twitter is like the world’s biggest cocktail party. Do you think people are going to want to hang out with you if all you do is repeat the same thing over and over again?
Do you think people enjoy hearing sales pitches?
Before you send a tweet, ask yourself if it is something of value to your followers.
Will your followers find it:
If the answer is no to all of these, then why send it?
If you have questions about using Twitter, comment below or Contact Me or better yet, ask me on Twitter.
I will try to share what little I do know and what works and what does not.
